Description
Strasburg Railroad Number 90 stops by the water tower in Strasburg, PA. The Strasburg Railroad is the oldest short line railroad in the country, chartered in 1832. I grew up about forty minutes north of the railroad and my family would go once a year to see the steam engines running. It is one of only a few places in the country where you can see two operating steam engines pass each other.
Number 90 was, and still is, my favorite steam engine. She has a 2-10-0 wheel arrangement, making her one of only two operating "decapod" locomotives in the country. There are bigger steam engines, stronger ones, sleeker ones, but to me, good old Number 90 is about as iconic as you can get.
