Description

This is part one of a triptych. These shots were taken on the Santa Monica Pier, just west of Los Angeles, California. The shots were all handheld with a slow panning motion and slow shutter speed to blur the waves just enough to take on a dream-like look.

I shot these as an experiment to see what I could do to portray movement and shape with the waves off the coast of California. As the wave comes crashing down in these three photos, I like to think that I captured just a bit of the essence that makes the sea seem alive.
